The semiconductor recovery started in 2H19, but the momentum hit a rough patch in 1Q20 due to the Convid-19 pandemic, which has taken a toll on end-demand and disrupted parts of the electronics food chain. So far, the pandemic has not had a significant impact on the silicon demand due to the long lead times of wafer manufacturing. Moreover, chipmakers are sticking to their plans and are not cutting wafer starts, hoping for a strong bounce back in the second half of the year. CMOS Logic is expected to record the biggest gain among segments after falling the most in 2019.
