VLSIresearch reported that IC inventories are high relative to the same period in 2014. It cautioned that it could be a leading indicator of a downturn. While it is typical to see a rise in OEM inventory holding of ICs at this time of year, as they prepare for the graduation and back-to-school sales season. However it is not typical to see a steady rise die banks at the chip makers. This concern is magnified by what VLSI sees as a glut in DRAMs.
