VLSI's Semiconductor Analytics report Semiconductor sales recovered for the second week in a row. Despite the improvement, sales are still well below the same week in 2019. Semiconductor Supply-Demand held at Balanced last week, though conditions for Foundry improved to Tight while OSATs moved up to Saturated. Despite the improvement, OSATs still see little demand-pull out of the fab into Assembly & Test and into contract manufacturers. DRAM remained stuck in Saturated due to weak demand. The 2Q20/2Q19 quarter Nowcast remained deeply in the red. DRAM and Auto are the worst, falling with the glide path of a rock, with Analog & Power not too far behind. NAND and Logic are best off, but they've slipped in negative territory.
Coronavirus Semiconductor Market Watch
Eleven-weeks in, the cumulative impact of COVID-19 on the semiconductor market since the WHO declared the emergency, continues to show the biggest impact has been on unit sales, now down about 13% below their 5-year TMA . IC sales improved enough to pull it back to a low single digit negative of -3% while ASPs stayed relatively high.
