Semiconductor sales continued a steep upward track for the 3rd week of the year, rising +20% w/w. The IC weather heated up to a warm 89°F. Focusing on NAND this week, 13-week MAs show it 14% above 2020, which has steadily increased since bottoming in Dec. Auto was the only segment that didn’t show a rise in Y/Y growth, though it is still double-digit like the rest. Analog & Power had the highest growth with DRAM & Logic trailing.
IC Wafer Fab Production continued the race to keep up with the IC sales gain, though the wafer ramp was only at a quarter the rate. Wafer fab production has been strongly positive since mid-October.
The Supply/Demand status tightened. Half of the major markets VLSI tracks were in Shortage conditions last week. The rest are at Tight levels. The big changes were OSAT and Foundry, which tightened up a notch. The 1Q21 NowCast is at Tight levels - the same as the last 4 quarters.
