Semiconductor sales rocketed up last week with 53% growth over 2020's COVID infected week. The IC weather was +1°F hotter for the week. Focusing on last week's Auto IC market, the 13-week MA is 29% above 2020 and past Dec's sales peak. Last week DRAM ran the fastest overall, followed by a 2-way tie for Auto and NAND - then Logic and Analog & Power. With the 1st quarter's end near, all segments are nailing down finishes in the teens to 20% range with DRAMs and Auto ICs at the top.
IC Wafer Fab Production levels blew past peak 2020 levels by 4% in addressing chip shortages last week, it was 76% above 1Q20's COVID constrained low.
VLSI's IC Supply/Demand status held in Shortage conditions. The notable changes last week were NAND falling back to Tight levels, as Foundry lifted to Shortage for the Quarter. DRAM cooled substantially, while OSAT and Foundry tightened. The 1st Quarter has been in a Shortage since 15 Jan.
