Semiconductor sales finished the year in their normal December dive. Sales were 3% above 2019 for the last week of the year. The IC weather cooled 14°F, as the normal arctic holiday chill set in. IC Highlights: Focusing on the 2020 IC picture this week,13-week MAs show wildly divergent paths throughout the year. COVID drove a 1H20 boom in DRAM, NAND, and Logic versus a crash in Auto and a dip in Analog & Power. The 2nd half was a mirror image for most, with late upticks in DRAM and Logic.
IC Demand in Silicon Wafers peaked in early December. With the exception of the COVID slump in March, 2020's trend was well above 2019. The Supply/Demand status loosened as the 4Q20 closed out in tight conditions. Foundry and OSAT both dropped into a glut in the last week. Analog & Power dropped to Saturated. DRAM held in Shortage while NAND and IDM held at Tight.
Electronics' Prices turned up as holiday demand overwhelmed existing supply.
