- Order activity for semiconductor equipment surged nearly four points in the third week of January, hitting a hot 87 degrees
- All segments recorded strong gains led by SOC Mobile and Computing.
- Demand for semiconductor equipment remains robust as chipmakers grapple with tight capacity and IC shortages.
- There were some notable changes made to the forecasts in January
- Equipment forecast for 2021 has been upgraded from 6% to 12% due to stronger than expected demand
- The semiconductor forecast has also been upgraded from 8% to 11%
- Electronics sales forecast remained unchanged at 6%.
- VLSI's Chip Price Performance Index turned hot
- DRAM surged
- NAND flat
- MPUs rose
- IC inventories are improving
