It's been a warm summer but a blanket of caution and uncertainty clouds visibility for 2021
    • Order activity for semiconductor equipment jumped back to 80 degrees led by DAO and Memory
    • Improving trends in Automotive and Industrial markets are giving DAO (Discrete, Analog, Other) a much-needed boost following a rough 1H20, which was hampered by the COVID-19 induced recession
    • Memory activity edged higher despite the current headwinds in the market
    • Micron's outlook for the current quarter confirmed our views that the memory market is currently in the midst of a soft patch due to an elevated level of inventories and a slow enterprise demand
    • Micron expects the recovery to resume in the early part of 2021 and is planning to increase spending by $1B to $9B this fiscal year
    • VLSI's Chip Price Performance Index edged higher
      • DRAM increased
      • NAND rose
      • MPUs declined
    • Electronics sales remain under pressure
It's been a warm summer but a blanket of caution and uncertainty clouds visibility for 2021
