    Semiconductor Equipment Weather Report: November 2, 2020

    • Order activity for semiconductor equipment was relatively flat in the last week of October
    • Memory, DAO, and Subcon/Adv. Packaging edged higher but their increase was offset by declines in SOC Mobile and Compute
    • Equipment suppliers have posted very strong results in Q3, exceeding our lofty expectations
    • Sales of the top 11 equipment suppliers are now on track to increase nearly 12% sequentially in Q3, up a whopping 27% on yearly basis
    • Exchange rates were also favorable, as a weak U.S. dollar boosted the overall growth by two points in Q3
    • Given the strong performance in Q3 and a solid outlook in Q4, equipment sales are now on track to increase by mid-teens in 2020, beating our forecast of a 10% increase
    • VLSI's Chip Price Performance Index turned lower
      • DRAM rose
      • NAND fell
      • MPUs declined
    • Utilization rates are rolling over in Q4
