The upturn is taking off
- Order activity for semiconductor equipment surged nearly two points, hitting a hot 83 degrees
- All segments recorded gains and are now hovering above the 80-degree mark
- Equipment manufacturers feel very optimistic about the year ahead, especially 1H21
- Moreover, the strength in the activity is much broader compared to a year ago
- The December data from the Taiwanese companies was in line with our view of healthy industry fundamentals and improvements in Memory
- VLSI's Chip Price Performance Index continued its upward trend
- DRAM jumped
- NAND flat
- MPUs rose
- Utilization rates have improved across the board
